Professor required students to praise Allah, remove shoes before entering office | Fox News

I don't see s problem with anything this man has done. He should be given his job back if he still wants it and backpay.

Retired Muslim biology professor at UConn, Felix Coe, required students to remove their shoes and say an Arabic phrase before entering his office. (Jihad Watch) A controversial Muslim professor at the University of Connecticut retired this past year after students complained that he required them to say an Arabic phrase and remove their shoes before entering his office. Retired biology professor, Felix Coe, taped two signs outside his office requiring students to say “Bismillah,” an Arabic phrase meaning “in the name of Allah” before entering his office, CampusReform.org reported. Visitors were also required to remove their shoes. You don’t come in my office with dirty shoes.

That’s a curse,” Coe told a student, after telling her to “get the hell out” and “I don’t want to see you” for wearing shoes in his office in an undated audio clip recently released by Jihad Watch . Retired Muslim biology professor at UConn, Felix Coe, required students to remove their shoes and say an Arabic phrase before entering his office. (Jihad Watch) When asked by two individuals why he required students to say “Bismallah” and take their shoes off at a public university, he said, “Because I’m a Muslim.” He also complained he didn’t have a separate place for prayer in a video taken last December.

UConn spokesperson, Stephanie Reitz, told Fox News that Coe retired since the video was taken and the signs were quickly taken down from the satellite campus location in Hartford, Conn. “Regarding this instance, the sign that had directed guests to precede their conversations with a specific Arabic phrase was immediately removed at the university’s direction,” Reitz said in a statement. “UConn promptly resolved the issue in a manner that respects the rights of all involved, and affirms the university's values of civility and inclusivity.” DOUBLE STANDARD?

What an idiot
God.
Religion has no place in schools unless they're learning religion. Especially forced customs.
God.
B Samson [WildFyre], No, it's the colleges office, and clearly they dont think it had a place in their office either.

God., It's personal space, that's why he had his name on the door. Is it foot odor you are afraid of?
God.
B Samson [WildFyre], what exactly dont you get here? It wasn't his space, it was the campuses space. The campus didnt want religion in the classroom. He tried to bring religion into the classroom. He was fired.

God., What name was on the door? And was this a classroom or a personal office?
God.
B Samson [WildFyre], and the campus?
God.
B Samson [WildFyre], well considering the campus owns the classroom, and his job slot it's kinda at more important then anything you listed

God., Consider it his "safe space." There have been court cases of similar situations does the term "reasonable accommodation" come to mind?
God.
B Samson [WildFyre], because we dont know how stupid safe spaces are. And it isnt his safe space. It's his job. He overstepped his boundaries and was fired. Stop playing devils advocate. He was in the wrong, and I feel like you know it. I get the idea you're just being a troll.

God., Uh how was he in the wrong?
God.
B Samson [WildFyre], Even you srent this thick. I'm going to assume you're just trying to get attention and I'll move on.

You don't see a problem Brock??? He should get his job and back pay?? Im gonna assume you're kidding or that someone else is using your account.

Why's that? A courtesy at least I'm his personal worksoace. It's not like atheists are continually asking, and more, for the same.
Alysia
B Samson [WildFyre], when's the last time you saw any Christian "courtesy" at the workplace in OUR own CHRISTIAN country? We have to pay him courtesy's that comform to his head-choppy religion here in the US while we are given no courtesy's to our own NOR would we be given it by them to us in their own countries?

Alysia, does that make it right? The only ones that appear to be getting an actual freedom of religion are the Evangelical atheists. People have to take their shoes off in certain restaurants. Some people like time off to pray. It's courtesy at a minimum.
Alysia
B Samson [WildFyre], No.. it's a courtesy to allow them the freedom to do it here. Not to force us here to conform to any single part of it.

Alysia, how is this different than hanging a cross in ones office or displaying the ten commandments at a courthouse?
Alysia
B Samson [WildFyre], because people entering our office are not required to do anything for the cross to show and force respect on it. Like if he wanted to hang an Allah plaque on his own wall or something.
