Today I am reading Sci-Fi by Tracy K. Smith
Smith was named U.S. Poet Laureate back in June 2017. She's been awarded numerous prizes from the Cave Canem prize for the best first book by an African-American poet to a Pulitzer Prize for poetry, and she was even a finalist for the National Book Award in nonfiction. Smith is a writer with some serious cred.
Myself, I became fascinated with her as soon as I heard her in interview talk about her love of science and science fiction. There are very few writers who can pull off poetry about those topics in an intellectual, knowledgable way. She nails it!
