Greece plays a large role in the history of many modern western traditions, laws, and techniques of governance, Felix, that cannot be disputed. Of course so does Italy, and Persia, and Sumer before that, but okay.
Many countries have made a lot of money thanks to the Greek crisis and the bad interest rates - so I'm happy for Greece and for this signal of democracy - depts have to be paid back, but not to a lender that does everything to raise the interest rate by driving the country into ruin
They are still in debt. That isn't going away. Now they are out of the euro, which means they are going to the drakma. If they go on the drakma they have to devalue their currency which means inflation an voilà! Useless money from a politically hysterical country
But they won't. They have no natural resources and they primarily export goods like olive oil. And there are countries that do it for cheaper (China Turkey sometimes Italy and Spain) I mean the finance minister resigned today, he screwed up and he knows it. We'll see what happens but it's bleak for Greece
