On twitter he is grilled for this statement. I don't understand the full details of legislation here, but the bill was actually passed by Democrat votes and he himself voted Nay. The call he is mentioning in those several tweets is to recommit before the actual vote.

Any supporting documentation?
Joey
The vote he's reffering to was voted on the exact party lines he stated and appears to be a limited appropriations bill to fund agencies along the same lines that they were funded last year.

Thank you for the effort Joey

Hyde, happy to. I'm glad there are still folks who don't take random Twitter screen shots and proclaim it as truth.

Joey, I believe you are mistaken. The link you provided shows the tally on the question of “On Motion to Recommit with Instruction.” As I understand it, that is a vote on whether or not to have another debate on opening the government. The actual vote on *passage* of the bill to fund the government was voted “Yea” by 223 Democrats and 6 Republicans. Bill Summary: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-joint-resolution/28/all-actions?overview=closed&q=%7B%22roll-call-vote%22%3A%22all%22%7D Tally on passage: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2019/roll046.xml

__17, I think you're right. When I responded the second vote hadn't happened yet.

Oh fair there was a few days between the votes. Appreciate your first link, wouldn’t have found the bill otherwise. Also got to learn what a vote “on a motion to recommit instruction” was so I’m not complaining. Almost feels like the old Plague again.

I heard this this morning, he was on, he said they put forward two bills to pay the non essential employees, only a handful of Dems voted for it. This is proof the Dems don't care about the effected employees, they just want Trump not to win another victory.

"Victory" Shutting down the government bevause you did not get what you want is a victory? Trump doesnt care either...

Pluto 🚲, I think he does. He is exposing Nancy and her ilk for what they are.

Pluto 🚲, you're wrong. Democrats are denying payment for a wall they fully support just to stick it to ONE MAN WHOM THEY HATE and they're screwing half a million people just to screw one man. They have always supported the wall. Grow half a brain and quit being a sheeple.

Hanover Fiste, They are denying payment and have every right to do so. Thats how politics work. You disagree. And in a healthy democracy you would talk and figure something out instead of holding the country hostage.
Hanover Fiste
Pluto 🚲, I can't disagree with anything you said. Likewise, the other side has every right to do the opposite. Having a right doesn't make you right. You have the right to be wrong. I'm not even a big supporter of the wall. The environmental approach was the best argument against it. Playing the race card is completely stupid, especially when the majority of patrol agents are Hispanic, and a lot of other Hispanics are against illegals. I also agree that holding the country hostage isn't the answer. Fortunately that's not happening anyway. I get along just fine without government. They can stay shut down for all I care. Also it's fortunate that the only people effected are those who get paid via federal tax dollars and are deemed "non essential" employees. But to sit there and blame one side of a fight like this is idiotic. Especially when one side is only doing it because they hate one single person. They used to support the cause, but they want one single person to fail, so they withhold paychecks to half a million people. To blame that one man proves you're a sheeple.

Pluto 🚲 and Hanover Fiste, whenever you have a discussion of rights it should also include a discussion about the responsibilities that go along with those rights. In this instance BOTH parties have a responsibility to work together and keep the government going. The committees that create the bills that eventually make it to the floor are largely bipartisan. One of these committees already created a bill to continue government funding that included money for 245 miles of border barrier in problem high traffic areas, 2,500 new border patrol agents, 25 new judges (to help alleviate backlog), and funds for additional drug detection technologies at the southern ports of entry. This bill included a bipartisan compromise regarding the wall. The democratic leadership (speaker of the house) rejected this bipartisan bill because it included 245 miles of border barriers in problem high traffic areas. Keep in mind that in the past this same person voted yes on bills that contained similar barrier funding. So tell me, who in this situation is failing to live up to their responsibilities that come along with their rights? The president is willing to sign bipartisan legislation that includes funding for a wall. The bipartisan committee is willing to propose (and has proposed) a comprehensive bill that includes funding for the wall. The house leadership is not willing to allow a vote on a bipartisan bill that includes funding for any wall.

Pluto 🚲, we are not in a democracy. We are a republic.
Hanover Fiste
It's a big fat lie! 10 Democrats voted for it 🤣
