God., the Torah is pictured, historically preceeding the Bible. Each book inside the Bible has an important part. Taken as a whole, there are allegory, parables quotes, historical interpretation and even prose. Individually the books don't show the entire story. Together the Bible shows us all the word of God written in the words of men who wrote it in words and their own understanding at the time it was written. It is not a science textbook, it is a way to understand how things work together. Inside we have law and commandments, punishment and forgiveness. Religion has in some cases corrupted the word to fit their own benefit and meaning. We have news about battles and events, Kings and Queens. You don't have to believe, but it is not fake news.
God., it took thousands of years years to compile the pieces and parts which make up the Bible. To be able to do this over the centuries took great faith alone. Why would this happen over the years through the changes if language and culture?
God., true yes, there are true stories in the Bible. Do they all pass modern scientific muster? No. The stories were written by men using their own understanding of the world as they knew it at the time it was written.
🎺CommanderB..., I guess we can believe fairy tales of olden day too.
If you use this logic, every religious text is true, which makes none of them true.. monotheistic religions are suddenly polytheistic. Polytheistic religions now have unregistered and all powerful deities that dwarf the current ones. Satanism suddenly just looms like worshipping another God. This view just doesn't work.
🎺CommanderB..., religious nuts are so frustrating to talk to because they transcend any actual logic. "Well forget about the fact that this is illogical and cant work, because it does in my eyes". Reality is a culmination of a mass consensus.. you cant just reject it.
🎺CommanderB..., If you've read the Bible you've retained almost none of it. I've read the Bible cover to cover twice and I've spent many hours leafing through it. Have you or have you not read the entire Bible?
🎺CommanderB..., I believe in this God.... ie the person who posts here as 'God' - he is the embodiment of revealed truth. His words shall be collected into an etext and shared far and wide by the communion of Sola. And thus it came to pass.
CV41, if you're so sure about your knowledge of the bible, do you care to share your thoughts on what Babylon the Great represents? Gog of magog? The dreams of Nebuchadnezzar? Thoughts about the "tribulation" and if what is going on in Russia has any significance to that?
CV41, if I remember correctly, the bible states that before this great tribulation the nations would cry peace and security. Then would come an attack on God's people. During this time there would be celestial phenomena as signs. Then would come the attack on all false religion also known as Babylon the Great, followed quickly by the day of Armageddon. Some would attest that North Korea or Russia is the spoken of "king of the North" that is prophesied. That's the cliff notes version.
Dirus, the story of the apocalypse is also told in the book of Revelations. It's probably the most badass part of the New Testament. Christians would likely say that supercedes the Old Testament prophecy. I think we could have interpreted the build up to WW2 as a fulfillment of the prophecy of the Book of Daniel. I just skimmed it and don't have a deep understanding of it yet but do you think the description is general enough to have been applied to WW2?
🎺CommanderB..., why did god not guide them. Why did he/she send his messenger to a remote uncivilized part of the world to reveal his/her son. Why didn't he/she do it in china where people was way more civilized and able to document his glory. Noone who ever met jesus have written a word of the bible.
The dark passenger, the gospels were written by the names on them, John, Mathew Mark and Luke. Some of these men were illiterate so other people wrote down what was told to them. Jesus was born in an obscure part of the Roman empire to be sure. He did not come as a mighty King or as a conquering General. He came in a whisper. As a baby of some very poor people. We have to listen and not get screamed at. It is a subtle message with great import. You don't have to take it.
🎺CommanderB..., nope. It is impossible. Please check the fact - none of them were friends with jesus. And only one of them could have met him. And that would only have been a couple of times for a few days.
🎺CommanderB..., For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
I Corinthians 1:18 NKJV
The dark passenger, I am not forced to be in a religion , but know a little bit about the Sikh one. If you seek a good religion which not denie the existence of a God it's a good choice for your further , personal experience.
Btw. without a God there is no hope for mankind !
The dark passenger, ofc. there is no religion needed, but a way to structure your believing. In this sense the Sikh religion is the closest one nowadays . Seems me a developt mix between Buddhist , Jews, Christian and Islam.
No wonder , because all time is a "messenger" if needed to force a" new" religion !
Call it evolution in a quantum universe ..😇
CV41, by believing and trusting in Jesus we are being saved from eternal separation from God. God doesn't cherry pick who goes to heaven or hell. He gives us the choice of where we want to spend eternity. He loves his creation so much that he won't force people into his presence unwillingly.
CV41, because, he knows everything, he sees everything, he understands all that you want and need but, he still wants to see you beg (pray) and still wants to torture you when you fuck up. But he pretends he doesn't know you are totally going to shit the bed and sin because watching us squirm is fun for him.
Jack (writer) 🎺, it doesn't seem to make sense but god does work in mysterious ways. He loves me so much he is willing to see me in agony for all eternity. The real question is how can heaven be paradise for my loved ones when they are aware of my eternal torment? Souls in heaven must be completely without empathy just like god so they can be in bliss while not caring about those suffering in hell.
Jack (writer) 🎺, I don't know where you got that from because that is false. ‘ As I live,’ says the Lord God , ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways!
Ezekiel 33:11 NKJV
B-rod, who said I don't believe in god? I just believe there's ten billion hypocrisies and piles of b.s. in organized religion. I don't think anyone has the message right and if he exists, he's probably shaking his head somewhere calling us idiots.
See here's the thing. I could research fairies. Every myth, every legend, every single hint of a wooded trickster creature from every tale around the world. I could become the foremost expert on fairies and know every whispered syllable about these creatures. But I'm still an expert on bullshit, because no matter how hard I study, no matter what mathematics I use, no matter what microscope or telescope or submersible that I use, I'll still never find a fairy. When someone preaches how much they know about the gospel, I feel the exact same way I feel about studying fairies. Bullshit experts.
Jack (writer) 🎺, What standard are you basing what religions are b.s. or not, and what knowledge do you have to say which religion is right or not . I agree that organized religion is one of mans worst downfalls but for me, being a Christian is a lifestyle it's not me being religious. Also just because some Christians are hypocrites, it doesn't make Christianity false.
Well I was almost a theology major at one point so I know plenty of little known facts about christianity such as Lilith, there's a gospel of jesus visiting hell that was cut when they made the King James version and plenty of other facts about translations. The problem with being a theology major is there's too much greek and latin involved and then unless you're planning on becoming a man of the cloth, there's not much you can do with it. So, I guess I'm basing my views on this particular religion as false based on silly ass tales like Ezekiel praying to God and God sending two she-bears to maul 40+ youths for calling him Bald (bit of an over-reaction there God) or how about the fact that 99 percent of the Christians I know are all pompous enough to consider it all fact by default when the only real evidence they present is quotes from a book that was written as a huge game of telephone (god to the seraphim, seraphim to the voice, voice to the prophet, prophet to the people JEEZ man I sure hope we have a scribe that can write.) That same book that's been translated and retranslated and then picked apart, reassembled with omissions so many times it can't possibly have the same meaning it once did.
These same Christians that see people like 7th day adventists who handle poisonous snakes because of a misprint in their bible, and yet somehow don't see that their faith in the same book is almost as misguided as those nutjobs.
B-rod, if I believe and trust in Jesus I'll get into heaven but what if one or more of the people I care about fail to believe and trust in Jesus? How can heaven be paradise for me when I know people I care about are suffering? I'll still be in torment which will be made worse by my knowledge of my comfort when compared to their torture.
🎺CommanderB..., it "transcends logic", and thus isn't logical by any standards.. although even if its only illogical by earthen standards, that renders it wholly irrelevant, considering all societies function on logic and reason.
🎺CommanderB..., the most frustrating part of arguing with a religious person is when they cant refute an argument, so they just go "eh whatever maaan". The ideology that you can be wrong is really missing in today's society..
God., I can refute your argument. You don’t want hear me, your mind is made up, anything I say or do is immaterial and you will denigrate me for it. It is tiresome using this little phone and trying to converse. I will pray for you.
In debates like these commander, we try to keep from getting particularly emotional, and meet each argument what is arguable with a response, until someone has present one that is irrefutable or the two parties agree.
God., lots of the last one hundred years or more of discoverys happened by God fearing people, Mendle was a monk, the big bang was first positited by a Priest. Einstein was a devote Jew. A person's faith and science can coexist. It does not have to be one or the other.
🎺CommanderB..., on einstiens religion views: "Albert Einstein'sreligiousviews have been widely studied and often misunderstood.Einsteinstated that he believed in the pantheistic God of Baruch Spinoza. He did not believe in a personal God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings, a view which he described as naive"
Man is a transient collection of atoms, God is a figment of his imagination. In that God is more real than man, at least we know who created him and why. But us humans, we are an anomaly, unique in all of known biosphere. Our existence alone is the cause of pain and suffering on a biblical scale. We are omnipotent with our creativity and omnipresent in our consciousness. Maybe we are God.
God., I don't follow, I never said you don't exist, I said God might very well be human, or humanity as a whole...
This is the problem with Gods they are sort of slow to comprehend.
Read my comment a few times there, try to make sense of it before you reply with an unnecessary play on words, God impersonating person ☺...
SlimFootJesus, but I< am not human, therefore saying that I am human says me< as my traditional concept does not exist, however by saying I< impersonated God, I must exist.
This is the problem with humans. They're slow.
God., your personal or fictional existence is not the point of my comment see... you brought it up, and you are still talking about you... I mean it is kind of clear why you choose God as an avatar, your ego is god sized, I'll give you that... But yeah, what you don't get is my comment is an open ended discussion into the nature of God, regardless of if he exists or not or if we created it or it created us or if we all just don't exist to start with etc... it is quite paradoxical in many degrees, so don't feel bad for not getting it...
Hey God don't be mad, you know I love you. I enjoy reading your comments. Subtle humor is hard to pick up on since we are basically texting each other, you could have used a subtle emoji to signify it maybe? Well that wouldn't be subtle though... oh well...
As I said I couldn't follow, maybe it is the lack of facial ques, or language barrier. Well regardless. Sorry to piss you off, but I gotta say it was fun to see you drop your act for a second 😃
Be good God, no hard feelings, I am your biggest fan...
SlimFootJesus, To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep aboutLIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty trulyAREidiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
God., youtube keeps suggesting me to watch them, I held off on it as I only consume non fiction materials only: news, videos on quantum physics, cryptography, finance... but I will make an exception. 😉... by the way I have no clue who Narodnaya Volya is or Turgenev' Russian epic, they seem interesting...
But then again one thinks to himself... if the show has anything worthwhile to say, they would try make it obvious, why exclude people? A truely worthy message is better shared than kept to a small exclusive clique, so by my wisdom Rick and Morty can not be worthy of attention... but if God likes it, it is definitely worth checking out ☺
Of course it's fake news. God is everything. Real news. Fake news. Funny posts. Shit posts. He is the alpha and the omega, now let us bow our heads as we read Memery 24/7 And lo' he doth raise his fingertips, lower his palm, flex his arm and Saltbae giveth salt and taketh thine dignity and a moment of your life, whilest you doth examine mine post.
The Romans got their hands on the Bible which made the world a better place. It transformed thinking and actions. It's how we got the printing press and many other inventions to better life. I believe churches make life better then any other organization or government. Many church's could even sustain a town by its self and govern it's people by its self without a formal government. My point is, is that if the Bible is fake it would be of the Devil and no good thing comes from the Devil. Good things come from God and the Bible is a good thing that has converted many people to change many things in people lives.
Mich Millner, No... I don't just believe in Heaven or Hell, I believe more then just those two places, as the Bible says there are more... And nobody knows what will happen after we die until you die... Which there has been many testimonies of people dieing and seeing loved ones that have past away and have seen Jesus. So this theory is actually proof because of countless testimonies
mallepietje, they talk to them and so on, and see there body with family around them. So on so on, you should read some stories. When you die you die and when your spirit leaves your body it does not count as a dream. They are actual spirits that talk to one another and see each other.
Please read something else... The Quran, the Torah, Vedas and any other religious book bring the same message, just in different ways or languages... I am not against religion, I am against the institutions that monetize people's faith and fears
This puts it so lightly, it is more sinister, religious texts are not news! They are tools for propagating political ideology propaganda and an attempt to control the minds of their subjects through the use of repetition, rituals, and dogma.
But can they have positive effects on the believer? I think so... And through out time they might have done some good helping create civilizations.
In the long run though, we won't need them, as data shows less and less people care for them anymore...
The dark passenger, maybe Charles Manson was the second coming of Christ and when his death sentence was commuted to life in prison in 1972 when the California supreme Court invalidated the state's death penalty statute he was unable to suffer for our sins and now we're all going to hell.
🎺CommanderB..., There is geology in the Bible. You should read it but be forewarned it's pretty boring, pointless, and stupid.
"The earth, from it comes food, And underneath it is turned up as fire. "Its rocks are the source of sapphires, And its dust contains gold.
CV41, I would say the overall concepts provided are directionally correct. However as man is sinful and imperfect on this plane, there may be mistakes in the text from our 21st century point of view. I still contend the Bible is the word of God written in the words of men at the time it was written. The whole Bible is many different books written over hundreds of years.
CV41, God does not like slavery. He did not endorse slavery. Peter wanted people to understand they should do what is right. Working hard is the right thing to do. No matter what station one finds themselves in.
bruise, it is the word of God. What are you trying to do? You can pick apart anything you don't like from any document in history. You don't have to like the Bible, you don't have to like the God it discusses, you don't have to like it has always been a best seller. Why are you so focused on this part? I am not a theologian or a Priest or a Bible scholar. Are you? I am not one who read Greek and Aramaic, my Latin is rusty. Do you know how to speak those languages? What is your end game?
🎺CommanderB..., The Bible reflects the morality of the people who wrote or translated it. There are differences because it's the work of man. If God exists it should be within his power to deliver an unambiguous and consistent message. God is either incompetent or non-existent.
🎺CommanderB..., If God was an adequate communicator there would be one religion and we wouldn't kill each other over our different ideas about which religion is right. If God exists he is incompetent or a monster.
Awakened, I think there will likely be no religion in 1000 years. Scientology is completely bogus but no more than any other religion. Your English is fine. I didn't know you weren't a native English speaker until now.
🎺CommanderB..., it has more than bits and pieces... like they plagirised a good portion of it... their defense is cool though, they say it is the same author 😂 how crazy is that, how are you gonna refute that.... (I know you can refute it easily, but still the nerve one would need to pull this off)
