Cat Woman, so I'm not the only one confused by how much lavender scented EVERYTHING there is. To me it doesn't smell like a whole lot of anything, though it sorta reminds me of the smell most old ladies bathrooms have (no offense to any old ladies who may be reading this). Reminds me of how so many cleaners are scented as just "citrus". Which doesn't smell like any particular citrus fruit even but is absolutely everywhere as well.
Random Obsessions, yeah, I don't know what that is about. Why is lavender so popular?
I think the citrus scent in cleaners comes from natural/home traditions of cleaning with actual citrus juices. They usually smell more lemon-y than orange or grapefruit or lime in my experience.
But yeah, your initial question is a little difficult for me I guess because I'm used to scents like "Ocean breeze" or some shit like that, but I don't know what's actually in it that gives it that smell.
Besides lemon, I think maybe I'd like the smell of freshly cleaned laundry. But wouldn't that just be a detergent candle?
Cat Woman, I'm not sure I've ever smelt a grapefruit. Or seen one in person for that matter.
Maybe the ocean breeze actually does smell like the ocean, I have no idea as I'm pretty damned far inland. The closes comparison I have to an ocean is lake smell and although it's a wonderful thing to smell in the morning and throughout the day it's very much the opposite of anything I would want to spray in my house. 😂 so yeah I'm not sure how they would do that one.
As for laundry detergent candles I'm sure they make those since they make those little smelly tree things that people hang off their rear view mirrors in fresh laundry smell.
Random Obsessions, Noooo. What? I love grapefruit! I love the taste AND the smell. I sometimes eat it for breakfast with a little honey. Anyway, maybe you should try it just to see if you like it. Chances are that if you're trying it for the first time as an adult, you probably won't like it. I get the impression that it's an acquired taste. I, myself, started having them when I was very young.
Ocean Breeze does not at all smell like the ocean. Trust me lol. The actual ocean smells pretty much like salt. Like if you drive towards the ocean, you can smell it before you even get there. It smells like salt lol. And sand if you can imagine that sand has a scent. Sort of like soil has a scent.
Cat Woman, I can't recall even seeing a grapefruit at the grocery store. Next time I'm in town I'll have to see if they have them so I can try.
Makes sense that the ocean would be salty. I do actually know what the ocean tastes like funnily enough. I went to Texas when I was in second grade and tasted a water bottle cap worth of seawater. I wasn't expecting it to be that salty. Actually now that I think about it I should have smelt plenty of ocean smells when I when to the Galapagos but I don't have any memory of ocean smells at all. Weird.
Random Obsessions, it could be because you become desensitized to it. When you first approach the ocean you smell " water/moisture", "sand", "salt", but while you're there it's not as prevalent.
What memories do you have of the Galapagos?
Cat Woman, lots about the animals and such. That the the food which was amazing. They made sort of like pancakes out of plantains that were the best food I've ever had. Also a lot of soup which I found odd for how hot it was there.
