Yeah once I told everyone sarcastically that vaccines cause autism and they all attacked me
AceHW (WildFyre)
Some ppl really believe that they can cause autism. It actually wouldn't surprise me that much if they did, after I found out what the fluorides in our water and toothpaste can do.
Secretariat ‮
AceHW, does it really
rico
Interestingly enough, anti-vaxxers tend to ignore a more likely source of autism. Affixation at Birth, which happens to the majority of babies and does not have to be reported by the doctor because it is an expected occurrence. Most times when affixation is reported it occurred for more than 3-4 minutes. That's long enough to cause minor brain damage in the infant and may cause a slew of other side effects. But we'll just blame what we don't understand because that is easiest and the American way.
Nick Art
AceHW, While I'm not able to specify more I actually do know a girl whose older brother did get autism from vaccination. It's one of those 0.003% chances...
Hanover Fiste
rico, I see blaming is not just an American phenomenan in fact the one you stayed is a very small minority while Europeans on Plag blame America for everything. So...Whose way is it really?
Hanover Fiste
Nick Art, I doubt that is true. It can't be proven and there's no such statistic.
rico
Hanover Fiste, one is blaming science, the other is 'Merika. Both are falsities derived from laziness.
Nick Art
Hanover Fiste, Yes there is no such statistic. Although it is true that not only vaccines but also every kind of medication when can have unforeseen side effects. Those can be caused by everything and most of them are never documented as side effects because their chances are so small. Also we can't generalize saying that all vaccines cause autism. It always depends on the vaccines and most importantly on the circumstances (age, health other medication...). Now I'm not saying they caused autism but I think withe the "right" circumstances it could be possible, but as you said you can't prove it (yet). all those chemical reactions and actions are just too complex.
Nick Art
On the case stated above I do not know enough about the circumstances but it is believed that a vaccination was most probably the trigger.
Hanover Fiste
Nick Art, autism is hard to diagnose in the first couple years. It has existed long before vaccines. Prior to about 30 years ago they were just classified as retarded. They have since learned that there are many forms and the word retarded isn't used anymore. There is zero link, that can be proven, not even enough to justify an accusation. It's a very fringe theory. But you're correct to say every medication can have rare reactions that are not documented. The rate of autism is no smaller among anti-vaxers. Therefore no real correlation. More research is being done all the time so we may find a cause someday.
Nick Art
Hanover Fiste, Yes, I think we can be pretty sure about that autism isn't the reason autism exist. But I think it *could* be possible that a medicament or a vaccine can cause a miss-reaction leading to autism. You're right we need to wait for science to understand the reasons how and why such things are caused. Maybe in the future we'll be able to know more.
Hanover Fiste
Nick Art, yes, but research has already been done that debunked the vax theory. It's possible some rare cases went unnoticed, but it would be so rare it wouldn't matter. That's being said by someone totally against mandatory Vax. It should be a choice what to do with our bodies right pro choicers? 👍
Nick Art
Hanover Fiste, Definitely. That's exactly my point. When it'd actually be like that It'd be so rare that it doesn't matter in the big picture.

My sarcasm runs so deep, sometimes I decide something's sarcastic after I say it.
