Born on Jan. 25, 1759. At that time this was his fathers farm land. It's now Alloway.
Photo taken at the Kelvingrove museum. Painted by Sam Bough in 1876 when the cottage was an alehouse.
Not sure how much of the cottage is original. In Scotland everything is so old, historical structures have to be re-created.
This is original but is in need of work.
View from the monument. Breathtaking for a Canuck.
Brig o’ Doon is the original 15th century cobblestone bridge over the River Doon in Alloway. It's image is on £5 Scottish notes.
His poetry somewhat escapes me, but the museum area really gave me some real respect for the man. From his financial woes to learning about his stories and characters, I highly recommend this place
