How do we incentivize people? Not with more money.

This video is fairly long, so here's a summary.

Money is not a good motivation once a person is making enough money to live comfortably. After that, it's factors like autonomy, mastery, and purpose that motivate people.

When people are given free time to autonomously create things, even if it's challenging for them, and if they have a sense of purpose while working, people tend to be more productive than if they were paid money to do so.

If this seems interesting, please watch the video! How do you think we should restructure the incentive system to allow more people to have more autonomy? Or allow people to pursue mastery? How can we help people do things that feel purposeful?

People are not given free time. Your time is yours to use in whatever way you choose. Sometimes your purpose is working (earning money) to support your hobby. If you arent earning enough to support that, get a better job.

"Free time" just means time available to spend on anything you want. Think more in the line of "freedom" than "free stuff." On "better job," well, don't you just mean a better paying job? Better paying job isn't always better for personal well being, or the societal well being. Being a corrupt politician will certainly pay better and give more free time to support other hobbies, but surely we don't want that to happen.
